The Beautiful Irony of the Cross

Isn’t it just beautifully ironic that The One True King (Jesus) died for those who rebelled against him, (Us) unjustly put to death on the charge of being a “Rebel against the One True King?” (Caesar, who let’s not forget, claimed to be God). Perhaps that’s why the Roman soldiers mocked Jesus as inhumanely as they did. I’m sure this must have taken so much humility for Jesus and inspired such utter indignation in him.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was the ultimate example of human callousness, injustice, and brutality, yet: “Forgive them Father, for they don’t know what they are doing” – possibly even to the same soldiers who had abused him.
